to autocomplete the fields for a document
While typing a field within a find{}, or insertOne{} or any other query, it would be really nice to see auto-complete suggestions from collection's existing document's field, with a drop down if more than one options are available and be selected with up, down keys on pressing the return key.

Filter for database list
I now have a few hundred databases and soon I will have thousands. It would be very convenient to be able to filter the database list by typing a part of the name in a small input field.

Improve organisation of connections in connection manager
We administrate multiple mongo instances that belong to different customers.
The connection manager should provide a better way to organize the connections.
Possible options:
* folders
* tags
** comma separated list in connection definition
** navigation by selecting 1-N tags from the distinct set of tags configured10 votesIntroduced Connection Groups

Copying collections to a remote destination server is slow
When pasting a collection to a remote destination server, it is slow! When pasting a collection to a server that is local it is fast.
Attempting to copy a collection with just 60k entries using a total of maybe 40MB can take a good 30 minutes if the destination is over the internet. However, that same copy command will be under 1 minute if the destination server is local.
This is not a case of slow internet, as other copying methods work in under 1 minute.
My primary suspicion is bulk inserts could be utilized to speed up the insert…

Add toggle feature to switch between JSON view of a query and QueryBuilder view of a query
I realize that you can now copy a query to the clipboard from the QueryBuilder view but what would be really awesome is if this were a more fully featured toggle system where you could have an existing QueryBuilder query and hit a button that converted all of the criteria and created it in Intellisense without having to copy and paste and open a new Intellisense tab.
Even awesomer than that would be if you were in Intellisense, you could hit the same toggle and take a native JSON query and have it parsed into a QueryBuilder format. This would…

Possibility to protect connections (and/or collections) from being changed
It is really comfortable and easy to copy, add and remove collections between multiple connections what we use a lot.
Most of them are test and development connections but sometimes one also uses a productive connection.
Because working with collections is that easy a user does not care the alerts anymore and just confirms or does not show them anymore.I would like a possibility to prodtct specific connections from being changed at all (just readonly). This could also be done on collection level. This protection could be removed for rarely needed real changes.
1 voteHi, we now have a “Read-Only” lock to prevent this, and in preferences > general, you can have collections “read-only” by default too. Hope this helps!
You can also colour-code a connection to help remember which to avoid.

Join multiple collection for data aggregation
It would really helpful for creating different aggregation on multiple collection connecting them through some "key" columns. Right now it is possible only to export the 2 CSV files and then in Excel join the data.

Show all fields in GridFS documents
MongoChef makes the same mistake as other popular GUIs in thinking that GridFS documents just contain a fixed set of fields. However, this is patently false; GridFS documents can contain arbitrary fields just like any other document but MongoChef makes absolutely no provision for displaying these.

Bring back the 'Show Last Page of Results' button
It would be nice to have the 'Show Last Page of Results' button brought back. Now, to imitate the same functionality, I have to run count(), and set the skip to count() - limit, then run the query again. The new way is very cumbersome.

Support for Ed25519 keys for SSH tunnels authentication
The SSH tunnels should support Ed25519 keys for authentication.
Ed25519 keys are supported in OpenSSH since version 6.4 and in PuTTY since 2015-05-10.
Currently, when using an Ed25519 key in an SSH tunnel, the connection fails with the following message: "Failed to connect to the SSH Server."

Copy collection WITH indexes
When copy/pasting one or more collections, copy the indexes as well. Right now, only the data is copied, not the indexes.
At least, provide an option for it please!

Allow export/import using mongodump and mongorestore
Exporting 12k documents is ok with mongochef took only few seconds, but importing these documents takes ages (many minutes). Importing bson file took 11 seconds with mongorestore. Mongochef should implement something like that.
I tried copy documents to different collection on same host, but this one is slow too. Maybe this is problem of number for concurent writers? Deal with hundrends of thousands documents or even millions is impossible with mongochef.13 votes -

Copy/Paste to Excel
We are frequently exporting data to Excel for a more easy use by non technical people (charts, pivot). It would be great to be able to copy the table view and paste it directly to Excel.
19 votesHi Luc, hi all – we’ve just added this functionality in Studio 3T 2021.2 (https://studio3t.com/whats-new/release-2021-2/).
Now you can copy/paste to Excel, with or without headers: https://studio3t.com/knowledge-base/articles/export-query-results-mongodb-to-csv-excel/
